Born in Billings, Montana, Laurie spent 12 years working in
LA for the motion picture, and entertainment industries as a scenic artist and muralist. She has done theme park set design,
and many private mural commissions. She recently did set design for the Missouri River Dance Company and the Great Falls Symphony
on the ballet The Tremendious Journey and the opera Poia, both Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Celebration Signature events.
Laurie has, for many years lived in Montana again with her family; first in the mountains
out of Augusta, and now on their ranch near Cascade. While juggling the ranch obligations with painting time can be daunting,
the ranch environment gives her a special appreciation of our natural world and the circle of life.
Laurie especially enjoys painting pleine air landscapes in and of our beautiful state, and the interaction between
animals or people and their environment. She finds herself increasingly attracted to the timeless stories of people living
on the land and dealing with Mother Nature on a daily basis. Especially intriguing to her are the women's stories, and
their life paths as they juggle the responsibilities and pleasures of their many and varied circumstances.
She is a founding member of the Montana Painters Alliance, and a member of the Oil Painters of America. Laurie also
serves on the board of the MPA.
Laurie’s work is seen in regional shows and galleries.
