Welcome to the Montana Painter's Alliance web site. The MPA
was formed to assist and cooperate in fostering, stimulating, and encouraging the growing interest in plein air painting,
landscape painting, and studio painting by Montana's wealth of professional artists. The MPA organizes paint-outs, lectures,
workshops, and gallery shows for its members. Plus it offers in-state and out-of-state visitors the opportunity to observe
Montana's finest artists at work.
The MPA also works with other art organizations interested in all facets
of the arts to extend cultural horizons.

My pastel painting entitled
"Mid Summer Storm" was choosen by The Pastel Journal as the winner of the August Creative Spark contest.
During one winter here in Missoula, Montana, I looked out my window day after day to see a white
fog hovering over the ground covered with snow. Even the bare tree branches had thick layers of hoarfrost. After days
of this dreary gray and white scene, I decided to pull out those neglected colors that pile up and get shoved aside. I
went to work harmonizing bright colors with the sky and valley below as my subject matter. In the spring, my skyscapes were
well received and seemed to lift everyone's spirit. The intense color combinations affected the viewer's emotions
and energy level. Additional images can be viewed on my website: http://janetsullivan.net
